Chinese Bakeries in Houston
As a local Chinese resident in Houston, I often find myself exploring our wonderful bakeries and dessert shops. There’s a wealth of options that make it feel like home right here in the city.
1. Wang Wang Bakery
Located on Alder Street near the University of Southwest, Wang Wang Bakery is a must-visit. Their durian pastries and egg yolk lotus seed buns are super popular among locals. Prices range from $2 to $5, making it quite affordable. Every time I go, I pick up a few and it brings back memories of home!
2. Dim Sum House
If you crave traditional dim sum, then Dim Sum House is the place to be. They offer a variety of steamed dumplings and BBQ pork buns. Their shrimp dumplings are my favorite; each is about $3, and I usually end up eating two or three!
3. Sweet Time
This dessert shop is located in the heart of Houston’s Chinatown and specializes in creative dessert options. Their matcha ice cream and mango pudding are delicious, with prices between $4 and $6. Every time I bring friends here, they love it!
4. Salt & Crispy Chicken & Tea
Although it sounds like a snack shop, their dessert options are fantastic too! Their milk tea is a great match with their crispy chicken. Prices for milk tea are between $3 and $5, and it’s definitely worth a try!
